RF Microneedling

The Genius Radiofrequency Micro-needling treatment produces a fractional controlled injury to parts of the skin, therefore the tissue around the affected tissue remains intact. This fractional method contributes to the shortening of the downtime following the procedure. This intentional tissue damage can be in the form of ablation of tissue on the surface of the skin or coagulated tissue in the dermis and results in apoptosis (organized cell injury). The body clears the damaged tissue by producing new, younger-looking tissue. Individual response can vary after a radiofrequency treatment.

Erythema (redness) and sensitivity in treatment is expected to be strongly visible for several hours to several days and decreases with time, some mild pinkness can be visible for some patients for up to 2-3 weeks (this isn’t common).

Edema (swelling) of the skin in the treated area is expected. Severity of swelling will vary from patient to patient and can range from minimal to severe. Those prone to swelling/reactive skin, increased sensitivities or taking certain medications may be more likely to experience significant swelling post treatment. Swelling is temporary and will subside within 1-7 days.

Urticaria/Redness (itching/hive-like appearance is also associated with the thermal energy affecting the surrounding skin. Antihistamines can be taken daily to manage, if desired.

Micro crusting, gridding, or stamping will appear and can last days to several weeks according to the areas treated. This will initially look like little dots on the skin or have the texture of sandpaper. *Slower shedding of micro crusts, gridding or sandpaper texture is noted in areas around the eyes, neck and decolletage but will subside with time.

Purpura (bruising) is seen when a blood vessel bursts which can occur but is usually rare.

Skin breakouts and purging of underlying congestion is common in those with oily or acne-prone skin. This does not require further treatment and will normalize 7-14 days post-treatment.

Hyperpigmentation (browning) and hypopigmentation (lightening) is always a possibility with any energy-based treatment.  Hyperpigmentation can be minimized by correct pre-treatment preparation and strict aftercare adherence. This is more common in certain skin types and in Fitzpatrick skin types IV-V is almost certain to occur after energy-based treatments. This is temporary and improved with correct aftercare.

Infection is not usual after treatment, however, herpes simplex virus infections around the mouth can occur following treatments. This applies to both individuals with a history of the virus or individuals with no known history. Should any kind of infection occur, your clinician must be notified to prescribe appropriate medical care.

Allergic reactions resulting from treatment are uncommon. Some persons may have a hive-like appearance in the treated area as discussed above. Systemic reactions are rare.

Vigilant care must be taken to avoid sun exposure (tanning beds included) before and after the treatments to reduce the risk of color change. Compliance with sunscreen, using a hat/umbrella, and avoiding direct sun exposure are very important for best healing and outcome.

The number of treatments required will vary from client to client and your practitioner will personalize a treatment plan based on the improvement you desire.

Although one treatment is beneficial, a series of treatments is required for results. The recommended treatment course is 3 treatments every 4-8 weeks as advised by the provider. After the initial treatment series, periodic maintenance may be advised (depending upon the condition/s treated). Other treatment modalities may also be recommended.

Individual results will vary and depend on your skin type and skin concern.

Adherence to recommended skincare and product advice will ensure optimal results and maintenance of the skin. Failure to commit to active home skin care will limit results significantly.

There is only some limited  discomfort associated with Genius RF. We will apply A topical numbing cream to your skin before your treatment which helps with any pain.

Yes, do not schedule Agnes procedures on patients who have the following conditions: pregnancy, uncontrolled diabetes, various infectious diseases, pacemaker/AICD, certain metal implants, weakened immune systems, or for any other reason not recommended by a primary care physician.

• 4 days before your treatment, avoid the sun and sunless tanning products.
• For 1 week before treatment, avoid blood thinning agents such as NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Aspirin, Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, or any other non-Tylenol, non-acetaminophen product) or Fish Oil capsules.
• For one week before treatment, avoid using Retinol or Retin-A® products or other topical medications.
• Avoid invasive laser treatment or chemical peels, 4-8 weeks before Agnes.

Although you may start noticing results from Agnes RF immediately, the treatment area(s) will continue to improve for up to six months after your treatment!

You must be patient and allow collagen to do its work. The removal of fat cells by the body’s macrophages will take 2-6 months for the treatment of eye bags. Benefits for acne, comedones, blackheads, and syringomas may be seen within a few weeks. However, it may take up to 6 months to complete remodeling and remove damaged tissue from wrinkles.

During the consultation, we will go over all of your questions and, depending on your case, we will go over time expectations, and anticipated costs before your treatment.

We ask that you do the following before the Agnes treatment:

• 4 days before your treatment, avoid the sun and sunless tanning products.
